In 1998, God called Nykiki Clark to the ministry by revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ and began to equip, shape, and qualify her for His purpose and call upon her life. Through the aid of various vehicles, including Southeastern Bible College and several seasoned Apostolic mentors, she began the journey that would shape her destiny and change her life forever.

New Beginnings Ministries is a powerfully anointed ministry, with prolific preaching, expository teaching and dynamic praise and worship all to the glory of God! The foundational scripture of 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any person is (in grafted) in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether): the old (previous moral and spiritual condition) has passed away. Behold the fresh and new has come. AMP”, was tangibly evidenced as the NBM family witnessed countless lives being transformed, mass deliverances, healings, and many miracles, signs, and wonders in the lives of countless believers both in their local church, and while evangelizing nationally.

On September 13, 2020, Apostle Dr. Nykiki Clark was appointed as the Senior Pastor of Tabernacle of The Word under the oversight of Chief Apostle Dr. Israel Jones Sr. This amazing appointment led to the merging of New Beginnings Ministries and Tabernacle of The Word into one dynamic ministry, Tabernacle of The Word Church.

Apostle Dr. Nykiki Clark devotedly serves multiple organizations:  Apostolic Flow Ministries, Bessemer, AL as Assistant Apostle to Chief Apostle Dr. Israel Jones Sr. and Voice of Many Waters Apostolic Alliance, under the leadership of Apostle Daniel and Pastor Vonyett Akins, Milford, DE.

Apostle Dr. Nykiki Clark is committed to “ perfecting and full equipping of the saints( his consecrated people),(that they should do) the work of the ministry and building up Christ’s body ( the church):  That it might develop until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the ( full and accurate) knowledge of the Son of God, that (we might arrive) at real mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection”  Ephesians 4:12-13 AMP

Our Beliefs

We believe that there is one true God who has revealed himself as the eternally self-existent "I Am", the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind.  He has further revealed himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.

We believe the scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man the infallible authoritative rule of faith and conduct.  (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21)

Lastly, we believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ and in-filling of the Holy Ghost.  Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Church History

In November 1997 Tabernacle of The Word was birth with the vision clearly placed in the heart of Chief Apostle Israel Jones, Sr.  Tabernacle of the Word would be a place where God’s Word, Spirit, and Power dwelled. It would be a place where the Saints of God can come and worship in spirit and in truth; where one would receive sound doctrine which is His Wisdom, Order, Restoration, and Deliverance.

The first service was held 15 years ago at 1200 20th Street North, Birmingham Alabama where the church grew in members and in the power of the Holy Spirit. The outreach ministry, “Taking Jesus To The Street”, reached many people in the community. Each week the church sent two vans in order to meet the demand of those wanting to attend Sunday service.

In 2000 Chief Apostle Jones relocated and Assistant Pastor Alfred Broadnax was appointed to serve as Pastor. Pastor Broadnax continued in the works established by Apostle Jones and it was during this time that the Intercessor Prayer Team went forth in power and in the Spirit. We believe that because of the intercession, God moved in the lives of saints at the church, in the community and in the surrounding area. Pastor Broadnax concluded his service at Tabernacle of the Word until 2004.

Tabernacle of the Word re-opened in 2006 at 2366 Center Point Parkway, Birmingham, Alabama under the leadership of Chief Apostle Israel Jones, Sr., re-establishing and confirming the commitment to the community in pursuit of Kingdom works. The “Taking Jesus to the Street” Outreach Ministry and the Intercessors going forth in prayer proved to be the pillar that provided stability for the church. People came to the church and gave testimony to the power of God through the works of the Outreach and Intercession Ministry. During this time the church established its Music Ministry which included the Praise & Worship Team and the Dance Team. A Media Ministry was formed which included audio & CD/Tapes. A Board of Trustees was formed and the Apostolic School of Ministry was established.

Tabernacle of the Word continued its pursuit of Kingdom works by establishing the Pastoral Ministry to oversee and ensure ministry to the spirit, body and soul: the whole man in the church as well as in the community. A partnership was developed with the State Correctional System and community nursing homes to provide spiritual enrichment and encouragement monthly. The women’s ministry serves the body and bring the women of God together in the spirit of sisterhood.

The church continues its partnership with the community in the prisons, nursing homes, and “Taking Jesus to the Street” every Saturday morning. A new ministry was established in 2017, I J Community Development, which distributes food and clothing to the hungry and homeless every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.

In 2016 Tabernacle of the Word relocated to 1031 11 Street North, Bessemer, Alabama.  The church remains a place where God’s Word, Spirit, and Power dwell. It is a place where the Saints of God worship God in spirit and in truth and receive sound doctrine which is:  His Wisdom, Order, Restoration, and Deliverance.
